5 Tips for Selling Your Home Quicker

Whether your home has been on the market for a while or you’re ready to list your home now, selling your home quicker is always the No. 1 goal. Of course, from job promotions to simply upsizing your home to fit your growing family, there are times when selling your home quicker is more urgent than others.

Here are some key things you can do now in order to speed along the process:

    1. Tidy up the outside.

If you haven’t kept up powerwashing your home or the weeds in your garden beds, it’s OK! However, you’ll want to get a move-on and tackle the outside of your home now if you want to speed up the selling process. The exterior of your home is the first impression you’re making on a buyer as they begin their tour. It’s time to put away the yard ornaments and toys, trim the hedges, mow the lawn, clean your windows and powerwash your home—whatever you can do to get it looking spick and span in no time.

    2. Depersonalize and declutter your home.

Now it’s time to move to the interior of your home. First, remove any clutter from your home—overflowing knick knacks on your shelves, clutter on the countertops, etc. Next, remove family photos and other especially personal items that can be distracting for buyers.

    3. Go neutral.

Once your home has been decluttered, the next step is to neutralize your home. If you have distracting or harsh paint colors, now’s the time to paint your home in a neutral color, such as white, gray or beige. The same goes for your decor. Put away any bold artwork. You might think this is unnecessary; however, these details could deter the buyer from being able to envision themselves in your home if they lean toward an opposite decor choice.

    4. Tackle your home maintenance to-do list.

Everyone has their home maintenance to-do list that they’re always hoping to complete. Selling your home quicker is the most opportune time to finally check off everything on your to-do list. From leaky pipes to faulty locks on your doors to a sticky window, make sure you take care of these things so that they don’t stick out in buyers’ minds and cause them to overlook your home altogether.

    5. Take top-notch listing photos.

Listing photos, like the exterior of your home, also make a first impression on buyers when they are looking at homes. In last week’s blog post, we talked about tips for taking better listing photos. From staging your home to highlighting your home’s renovations, look to last week’s post in order to take listing photos that will best capture your home to sell quicker.
