Spring Entertaining: 4 Ways to Enhance Your Outdoor Area
It’s never too early to begin preparing your home for entertaining outdoors! With just 19 days until the first day of spring, the next season is fast approaching, which means there will be plenty more opportunities for entertaining in the warmer months ahead. Here are four ways to enhance your outdoor area for spring entertaining.
The deck or patio
When you’re gearing up for the upcoming spring entertaining season, enhancing your deck or patio should take priority on your list. If your patio or deck is showing some wear and tear over the years, now’s the perfect time to ensure everything is secure and safe—from the beams to the railings—and that there are no nails or screws that have loosened over the winter. If you’re completely revamping your deck or patio area, consider the size. A larger area of course would make room for more furniture and entertainment, while a smaller deck would lead your guests to corral in your yard for games or even a fire pit.
Speaking of outdoor furniture, spring entertaining wouldn’t be complete without some furniture for relaxing and dining al fresco. Invest in some study, weather-resistant furniture that can resist all seasons. Depending on the size of your area, you might choose a bistro set that seats two on a smaller deck. Or for larger areas, you might get an outdoor sectional, porch swings and more! As for the materials of your furniture, you’ll want to look for furniture made of aluminum, resin, teak or weather-resistant wicker. Of course you’ll want to protect your outdoor furniture with covers to prolong their use.
Accessorize the area
Now that you’ve chosen your weather-resistant furniture, it’s time for the fun part—accessorizing your outdoor space. Since the spring season is prone to rainy days and other weather, it helps to have the right accessories for your outdoor area. Umbrellas or other coverings are especially important for a number of reasons including shielding you and your guests from rain or intense sunlight, as well as protecting your furniture from fading and other wear and tear if you forget to cover them. You’ll of course want an outdoor rug, some pillows and a small trunk where you can store some blankets for those chillier spring evenings. For lighting you can get creative by stringing lights above or having some outdoor lanterns.
Entertainment and dining
There are a myriad of ways to include entertainment in your outdoor space this spring. For starters, you’ll certainly want to kick off the season by dining al fresco. This if course means you should prepare your grilling area complete with a prep station or tables so that you don’t have to keep returning to your indoor kitchen. You might even have a cabinet to store disposable cups, plates and other utensils. When it comes to entertainment, outdoor spaces can be upgraded by a fire pit or outdoor games, such as cornhole, and some outdoor spaces will even have TVs. And if you don’t already have bluetooth speakers outdoors, these are another great way to enhance your outdoor experience!
